World Youth Day, Madrid, 2011

For the World Youth Day, hundreds of young men and women from Augustinian youth groups around the world will be coming to Madrid to participate in the 2011 World Youth Day. In addition to their active participation in the official activities of the international event, those who are members of Augustinian groups will be invited to take part in a series of activities especially organized by the Order’s International Commission for Youth Ministry.

Here is the schedule of the Augustinian activities during World Youth Day:

a.) During the whole week: Exhibit on the Life of Saint Augustine. This is one of the official exhibits for the World Youth Day. It can be found at the Parish “San Manuel y San Benito”, across the street from the park “El Retiro”, across from the Metro station “El Retiro”, on the Calle del Alcalá. Likewise, there is a Vocation Expo in "El Retiro" park itself, where the Augustinian family is also participating.

b.) August 16, 2011 (Tuesday): Prayer service with the Renewal of Baptismal Vows and a Conference by Fr. Miguel Angel Orcasitas at Colegio Valdeluz at 17:00. The school is located at: Fermín Caballero, 53.

c.) August 17, 2011 (Wednesday): Encounter with the Augustinian Family (Major Superiors, Friars, Sisters, etc.) in the Augustinian house at the Colegio San Agustin Madrid at 20:00.

d.) August 20, 2011 (Saturday): Eucharistic celebration for all the Augustinian participants. The Prior General will celebrate the Mass along with the Augustinian Major Superiors, at 10:00 12:00 p.m. The place for this celebration is in the parish “Nuestra Señora de la Consolación” in Mostoles. In the afternoon the delegates will proceed to Cuatro Vientos to take part that evening in the prayer vigil with Pope Benedict XVI, and then in the Eucharistic celebration the following morning.
