An Intercircumscriptional Novitiate was discussed, planned and approved at a recent meeting of the Major Superiors of the participating Circumscriptions. The meeting was held in Lima, Peru on September 2-3, 2014 at the future site of the Common Novitiate, the Monastery of Our Lady of Grace in La Encantada de Villa, in the district of Chorrillos.
The project arose from a concern of several major superiors of the area and the desire of the General Council of the Order to establish an Intercircumscriptional Novitiate for this area of Latin America. The constituencies present were from: The Vicariate of San Alonso de Orozco Argentina; The Province of Our Lady of Grace in Chile; The Augustinian Province of Brazil; The Vicariate of Consolation in Brazil; The Vicariate of Saint Thomas of Villanova in Bolivia; The Vicariate of St. Augustine in Apurimac; The Vicariate of San Juan de Sahagun in Chulucanas; The Province of Our Lady of Grace in Peru; and the Vicariate of Iquitos in Peru.
The new Intercircumscriptional Novitiate year will commence in January 2015. Congratulations to all who were involved in the honest dialogue, planning, fraternal cooperation and future execution of this important project of initial formation. We pray that God will continue to bless our Order with formation candidates in all of our Circumscriptions.
