Order of Saint Augustine

"Anima una et cor unum in Deum!" (Regula)

Thought of Saint Augustine
Your prayer is a conversation with God. When you read, it is God who is speaking, when you pray, it is with God that you are speaking.
The faithful know that it is the Body of Christ if they don't neglect to be the Body of Christ. May they become the Body of Christ if they want to live of the Spirit of Christ.
Man was not created as an irrational animal bent toward the earth but, erect in stature, a reminder to look above.
(De Civ. Dei XXII, 24, 4)

Saint Augustine in Arabic

Genoa, Italy
January 2013

"Translate Augustine in Arabic because we want to know him": this was the exact request made in 2001 by the president of Algeria, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, and by various scholars of Islamic universities, on the occasion of the Algerian International Colloquium, organized around Saint Augustine. After eleven years, the Discalced Augustinians from the Shrine of the Madonnetta in Genoa responded to the request translating into Arabic some of the most representative passages, certain that this initiative can contribute toward furthering a true rapprochement between Christians and Muslims. The passages will be made available via internet so that they can reach all families. "Our objective - explains the Discalced Augustinian Father Eugenio Cavallari - is to contribute to the opening of a dialogue - through Augustine - between the Muslim world and the West for a new future of unity and peace … Augustine is considered by the Arabs one of their own. Therefore his 'African-ness" is strategic".
