Order of Saint Augustine

"Anima una et cor unum in Deum!" (Regula)

Thought of Saint Augustine
The majesty of God surpasses by far our capacity for expression, because it is better to think of God than to talk of Him, and better is He still than what is thought.
(De Trinitate VII, 4,7)
We dwell in the Lord when we are his body and he dwells in us when we are his temple.
Man himself, so much admired, is a great mystery.
(Sermo 126, 4)

Death of Bishop Sheehan OSA

Dublin - Ireland
November 2012

Bishop Patrick Francis Sheehan, O.S.A., bishop emeritus of Kano, Nigeria, died peacefully in Dublin, on November 8, 2012. Patrick Sheehan was born on May 28, 1932, professed vows as a member of the Irish Province in 1950, and was ordained in 1956. In 1971 he was appointed Bishop of Yola, Nigeria, and served in that diocese for 25 years. He was then named Vicar Apostolic of Kano in 1996, and when Kano was made a diocese three years later he was named its first bishop. Bishop Sheehan retired in March, 2008, and was succeeded in Kano by John Niyiring, O.S.A. who was, at the time, Provincial of the Province of Nigeria. Bishop Sheehan was 80 at the time of his death. May he and all of our brothers and sisters rest in peace.
