The Congress theme calls our attention to the ecclesial nature of Augustinian education. As the Church so our educational ministry is a gateway to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and offers a pathway to the fullness of the Kingdom. It is in this context that we will explore the Augustinian educational apostolate which “should always be regarded as an essentially pastoral activity, so that we teach the truth with love, and the students acquire, along with a humanistic and scientific culture, knowledge of the world, of life and of humanity that is illumined by faith.” (Constitutions of the Order, #179)
The design of the Congress includes major presentations and stresses interaction of participants. Each presentation or experience is followed by small workshops on topics within the field of the presentation. This is one of the richest experiences offered by this international Augustinian Congress.
The site of the Congress will be the Colegio San Agustin, Lima, located in the San Ysidro neighborhood of the city. Housing accommodations will be at Augustinian facilities and retreat centers within a half hour of S. Agustin (individual rooms, private bath).
The languages of the Congress will be English and Spanish with simultaneous translation of major presentations and discussions in language groups. Liturgies will be prepared by continental and regional groups of schools.
Participation in the Congress is limited to 250 Augustinian educators, including members of Boards and school sponsoring bodies.
Cost for the Congress (housing, food, local transportation and program) is 300 390 USD. Payment may be made at the time of registration in Lima (VISA and Master Card only in dollars or Euros).
