During the week of Mach 24-27, Provincials from English-Speaking Countries where the Order serves gathered in Chicago. Countries represented were the United States, Canada, England, Australia, Philippines, and Nigeria. Representatives from Malta and Ireland were not able to attend. Also joining us for the meetings were the Vicar General and two Assistants General.

The time together was a chance to share ideas on how the provinces can collaborate on various topics. Some issues were: Sharing our Spirituality with the Laity, use of websites and social media, spiritual renewal among the friars, as well as sharing of personnel and collaboration on projects having to do with justice and peace. We also had time to visit with our young men in formation both in Chicago and our Novitiate in Racine, Wisconsin, and to share prayer and a meal with the friars from the Chicago Province who hosted these meetings. All of this helps us to be more aware of the international aspect of the Augustinian Order and the Church.

Some time was also spent reflecting on Pope Francis' Evangelii Gaudium or Joy of the Gospel. All seemed to indicate that this Pope is challenging us to be faithful to our charism and commitment to the Gospel and to bring Christ's mercy, compassion, joy and love to all peoples. There was a sense of enthusiasm and hope for our future.
