Blessing of a new monastery: Augustinian Monastery of St. Monica

Another monastery in the Philippines was recently established under the initiative of the Augustinian Contemplative Community of Milan, Italy. The blessing of this new monastery took place last April 15, 2012 in the island of Guimaras, Panay (Philippines) with the Prior General, Rev. Fr. Robert F. Prevost, OSA, as the main celebrant, and was assisted by the Prior Provincial of Cebu, Rev. Fr. Eusebio B. Berdon, OSA. This memorable occasion was likewise attended by the auxiliary bishop of Jaro, Most Rev. Gerry Alminazan, D.D., by the mother superiors of the different Augustinian monasteries in the Philippines, by some Augustinian friars, nuns and sisters, by the Trappist monks who live nearby, by some diocesan clergy, and by the friends and benefactors of this new Augustinian contemplative monastery. So far, this is now the sixth Augustinian contemplative monastery in the Philippines.
