Order of Saint Augustine

"Anima una et cor unum in Deum!" (Regula)

Thought of Saint Augustine
So that we believe in Christ, dwell in his words. By dwelling there, we will truly be his disciples. For he doesn't have only twelve apostles as his disciples. He also has those who dwell in his word.
Great misery is the proud man, but greater mercy is the humble God.
(De cat. rud. IV, 8)
Love either rises or falls. With honest love we rise to God; with dishonest love we fall into the pit.
(En. in ps. 122, 1)

The Friars of the delegation in Cuba met in Havana with the Vicar General, Joseph Farrell, osa ,for three days at the beginning of May. Topics of discussion included a summary of the many good works that the six Friars are accomplishing as they live and minister in our three communities in Cuba, a discussion on the fragility of the Augustinian presence in Cuba given the fact that we have only two Friars in each community, opportunities for New Evangelization in Cuba, and vocational prospects and formation of candidates.

The members of the assembly were able to visit the Diocesan Seminary of Havana and also visited the site of the former seminary, part of which is being transformed into a Cultural Center named in honor of Félix Varela. A concelebrated closing Mass of the assembly took place at the church of Santo Cristo Buen Viaje in Havana.

During the two week visit, the Vicar General was able to visit and spend time with our brothers in all three communities: Havana, Chambas, and Puerto Padre. Let us continue to keep in our prayers all of our missionaries along with our brothers who are committed to this important ministry of our Augustinian presence in Cuba.
