The first Chapter of the New Augustinian Province in Brazil began on October 28, 2013 at the Santa Monica Convention Center in Guarullos, San Paulo. The Prior General of the Order, Alejandro Moral Antón, OSA presided over the Chapter. The participants of the Chapter were all of the Augustinians affiliated or ascribed to the new Province along with the Priors Provincial of the circumscriptions present in Brazil and joined together to form the new Province: Father Ángel Escapa, OSA (Province of Castille), Father Agustín Alcalde, OSA (Province of Spain) and Father Emanuel Borg Bonello, OSA (Province of Malta).
On October 29th, the election of the Prior Provincial began with Father Cláudio de Camargo, OSA (n. 1966) being elected on the first ballot. Father Cláudio de Camargo, OSA was, until now, the Master of the professed students and Parochial Vicar and was part of the community at Our Lady of Good Counsel Residence on Rua Dona Brigida, San Paulo.
May the Lord shower his grace over the Province of Brazil, which is placed under the protection of Saint Monica as well as their new Prior Provincial.
